For professionals who expect exceptional performance , our Premium Service delivers a high level of scissor maintenance and refinement. This service is designed to restore sharpness, balance, and smooth operation while protecting the longevity of your blades. Each pair is serviced by a qualified Matakki technician using professional-grade Japanese tools and techniques. The Premium Service ensures your scissors remain in top condition — delivering clean, precise cuts and maintaining the standards you rely on every day.
How Often should you service your scissors?
To maintain peak performance, your Matakki scissors should be professionally serviced at least once per year under normal usage. For high-use stylists and barbers, we recommend twice-yearly servicing. Importantly, all servicing must be carried out by a qualified Matakki technician to protect your lifetime warranty.
7 Steps to perfection
1 - Pre-Service Inspection

Every pair of scissors receives a detailed inspection report before any work begins. We check for damage, wear, edge faults, and blade integrity.
2 - Ride Line & Honing

Using a Shapton Japanese glass stone, we carefully polish the ride area and hone line. This is a critical step—no matter how sharp the edge, your scissors won’t glide unless the ride line is perfectly finished.
3 - Diamond Wheel Sharpening

We recreate the cutting edge using a diamond wheel, removing only a minimal amount of steel to form a fine burr and preserve blade life.
4 - Convexing & Refinement

The blades are then polished on a leather wheel to restore the correct convex angle, giving your scissors that signature Matakki smoothness and precision.
5 - Function & Fit Check

We test and adjust the scissor balance, blade sett, tension system, rubber stopper, and finger rest. Any worn or damaged parts are replaced where necessary.
6 - Performance Testing

Every scissor is cut tested on both wet and dry tissue, ensuring performance is flawless across all cutting scenarios.
7 - Finishing Touches

Your scissors are then meticulously cleaned, oiled, polished, and returned in as close to factory-fresh condition as possible.

Once your order is paid, our team will send a further email with packing instructions of how to get these packed up and ready for dispatch off to us.

Please note, each service purchased is for one item. For customers wishing to send in matched sets or multiple scissors please make sure to purchase the corresponding number of services.
Please add any specific notes about your scissors to the “order notes” section. Add details of any issues you may be experiencing with your scissors, for example, you may have dropped them and they are not cutting at the tips. Once your payment has completed, print your email receipt or invoice and place together with your scissor in your secure package. You must include your receipt/invoice so we can book your scissors into our service centre quickly, failure to add your invoice will slow down your service.
Return the scissor securely packaged, we recommend the original scissor case or packed in heavy grade cardboard folded over to protect your scissors. Please ensure that you return this in a padded envelope for added protection and please enclose your receipt/invoice.
Please ensure the parcel is returned as a tracked delivery and keep the tracking number in your possession. If it is not returned via this method and subsequently lost we will not issue a replacement.
Sending Goods Back For Warranty Work - Customers Outside Of The UK
Please note under customs regulations warranty work carries a zero customs charge and therefore customers returning products for service work under warranty from outside the UK MUST mark the item as WARRANTY WORK with a ZERO CASH VALUE to benefit from a zero import/duty customs charge with the shipping company. Failure to do so may result in your package being refused and returned or an import charge that Matakki Scissors accept no responsibility and will be passed to you (the customer).
