Biography

My name is Allan Stone, I’m married to my wife Rachel Stone and I am the proud father of my two kids Sebastian and Lily who I adore. I’ve been Barbering/hairdressing for around 30 years now. I started my career when I was 15 years old at Saks Hairdressing in Newcastle under the tutorage of Gary Hooker and Nick Irwin. I transitioned into barbering when I was 20 and found my love and passion. I’ve owned my own business “Stoneys Barber Shop” for 21 years now. I also work at my local college “South Tyneside College” where I teach/lecture to level 2 and level 3 students which I thoroughly enjoy. I am also the north east regional educator for the Great British Barbering Academy which I also enjoy greatly. I love doing session/demo and photographic projects which takes me around the country and where my work has been featured in many of the leading industry magazines including Barber evo, Modern Barber and Barber NV. Barbering is my passion and my love and my journey, I believe, has many more roads that I need to explore. So enjoy the ride!

What is your proudest achievement to date?

My proudest achievement to date would be when I received my Grand Master Barber status as accredited by the British Master Barbers Association

Who inspires you in the industry and why?

My biggest inspirations in this industry are Gary Hooker, Nick Irwin and Dale Ted Watkins. Gary was the first person to put a pair of scissors in my hand at 16 and set me off in this wonderful industry and still watches over me today, I worked under Nick Irwin at Saks with Gary and his journey has just been incredible, he’s one of the most artistic and gifted guys in the in industry and his styling/photographic work is off the charts. I managed to share the stage with Dale a few years ago at Salon International and what I learnt off him in 45 minutes was unreal, he’s the typical hybrid of men’s hairdresser come barber, he is so precise and disciplined, artistic and also a pure gentlemen.

What is your favourite food?

My favourite food would have to be a good rib eye steak with sautéed vegetables and sweet potatoes fries

Inspirational Quote

I have a friend who I haven’t seen for years now called johnnie Rocco who is from Canada and he was responsible for opening the HOOTERS restaurants in England after he successfully opened about 40 stores in America, I once asked him what his advice was on being successful and he said “take care of the quality and quantity will look after itself “I’ve lived by that 👍
