Biography

My name is Connor, I’m 28 years old and from the South East of England, Bexhill. I’ve been in the industry for a little over 14 years with experience in both men’s and women’s hair. I opened my shop CMC barbershop in 2019 at the start of the pandemic, and we’ve hit the ground running. I have 2 other talented lads that work alongside me barberuttley and_lucas_knoll_ I have a wonderful fiancé Kasey, and a fury child, Buddie, obviously he’s a French bulldog - it fits the stereotype right?

What is your proudest achievement to date?

My proudest achievement to date is a recent addition, I took home the Modern Barber, UK’S Freshest Fade award 2021 in addition to joining the Matakki Scissors Ambassador team. I feel I can complete a range of different services to a decent standard and over the years I have dedicated roughly 10% of my salary to education whilst being extremely disciplined in my work. There have been so many aspects of my career that I have enjoyed, I’ve been lucky enough to work abroad, across the UK, cut at exhibitions and even work for bands at Wembley arena / download festival. I moved to Germany at 19 to open a Barbershop with a close friend charlemagnebarbershop and opened my own shop in 2019 @cmc_barbershop

Who inspires you in the industry and why?

It’s hard to pin down one person when talking about inspiration, there are various professionals that inspire me for different reasons. To choose one, I would say Alan Beak, he’s calm and collected, can turn his hand to anything and has bags of knowledge. He’s shown us that you can turn your craft into something more than just standing behind the chair, he’s managed to turn his brand into a global success meanwhile stepping into the shoes of the Wahl Creative Director.

What attracted you to Matakki and what scissor model are you using?

Matakki have been at the forefront of the industry for as long as I can remember, it seemed at the time everyone I would watch on social media / YouTube would be using Matakki. I picked up my first pair of Matakki scissors a few years ago and I have never looked back. I’m currently using the Kinju Scissor which was a recent upgrade! I feel that their products and service provide superb quality at an affordable price.
